Vignesh Puthur
Vignesh Puthur is an Indian cricketer. He represents Kerala cricket team in domestic cricket and plays for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL). His bowling skills have enabled him to advance through different levels of Indian domestic cricket.[1][2]
Early Life
Vignesh Puthur was born on 2 March 2001 in Perinthalmanna. His father Sunil Kumar drives autorickshaws while his mother K.P. Bindhu stays home to take care of their family. His early life shows how he developed a strong determination to play cricket because of his passion for the sport.
Education
Vignesh completed his schooling at Government Model Higher Secondary School in Perinthalmanna. He graduated from St. Thomas' College and now studies Literature at PTM Government College while he plays cricket.
Career
Vignesh Puthur began his cricket journey under coach Vijayan in Perinthalmanna. His early talent was proven when he represented Kerala at the Under-14, Under-19, and Under-23 age groups.
He participated in the Kerala Cricket League (KCL) and played for Alleppey Ripples which helped him gain practical experience of playing in competitive [3] cricket matches.
IPL Career
Vignesh started his career as a net bowler for MI Cape Town before the Mumbai Indians selected him for ₹30 lakh at the 2025 IPL Mega Auction.
He made his IPL debut on 23 March 2025 against Chennai Super Kings where he impressed by taking key wickets including Ruturaj Gaikwad Shivam Dube and Deepak Hooda.
The Mumbai Indians released him before the 2026 season. The Rajasthan Royals acquired him for ₹30 lakh during the IPL 2026 auction.[4]
