Ryan Rickelton
Ryan David Rickeltonis an international cricketer. He plays domestic cricket for Gauteng and MI Cape Town as a left-handed wicket-keeper batter. Rickelton made his international debut for South Africa in March 2022 and has since emerged as a key player in the national side. He played for South Africa in the 2025 ICC World Test Championship final which brought the country its second ICC World title.[1]

Ryan Rickelton was born in 11 July 1996 in South Africa. Cricket coaches recognized his natural talent for the sport when he was still a child. He grew up in a cricket-loving environment and developed his cricket skills through school and club matches because of the strong domestic system of his country. The Nelson Mandela Bay Stars selected him to join their team for the inaugural T20 Global League which they later canceled. He made his Twenty20 cricket debut for Gauteng on 1 September 2017 during the 2017 Africa T20 Cup.[3]

He was the leading run-scorer for Gauteng in the 2017–18 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge, amassing 351 runs in eight matches. He achieved the top position in Sunfoil 3-Day Cup scoring by accumulating 562 runs through six matches which demonstrated his ability to maintain consistent performance across different game formats.
International Career
Rickelton’s international journey began officially in January 2021 when South Africa chose him for their T20I team which was set to face Pakistan. His domestic achievements brought him increased recognition despite his initial absence from the field. He scored 224 runs with South Africa A during their List A series against Zimbabwe which included a century in May 2021.
His Test career started on 31 March 2022 when he played against Bangladesh for the first time. Rickelton made his international debut in One Day Internationals on 18 March 2023 when he faced the West Indies. Rickelton achieved his first Test double century in January 2025 when he scored 259 runs at Newlands Cricket Ground during the home Test series against Pakistan.
