He represents India in international cricket and Maharashtra in domestic cricket, where he also serves as a captain in limited-overs formats. His Indian Premier League (IPL) team is Chennai Super Kings (CSK), where he functions as both a player and team captain. Ruturaj Gaikwad was born on 31 January 1997 in Pune, Maharashtra, into a Marathi family. Ruturaj displayed a strong desire to play cricket from his early childhood, which his parents supported wholeheartedly. Ruturaj completed his schooling at St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School, Khadki, and later attended Laxmibai Nadgude School in Pimple Nilakh, Pune. He pursued further studies at Marathwada Mitra Mandal’s Polytechnic. Despite focusing on academics, he remained dedicated to cricket and balanced both effectively during his early years.

Domestic Career

In the 2016-17 Ranji Trophy season Ruturaj made his first-class debut by playing for Maharashtra. His first appearances in T20 and List A cricket happened during the year 2017. Through his batting performance in domestic tournaments Ruturaj developed into one of Maharashtra's most dependable batsmen during his playing career. The Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021-22 saw him achieve 600 runs through his four centuries which established a new record for most centuries scored in one tournament. He later broke records by becoming the player with the most centuries in Vijay Hazare Trophy history. He achieved the extraordinary achievement in 2022 when he hit seven sixes during a single over of a match. He has shown his leadership skills by captaining Maharashtra while participating in major domestic competitions with West Zone and Rest of India teams.[5]

Ruturaj made his T20I debut in July 2021 against Sri Lanka and his ODI debut in October 2022 against South Africa.
