Rakesh Bedi was born in New Delhi, India. From an early age, he showed a keen interest in performing arts and actively participated in mono-acting and theatre performances.

Education

Rakesh Bedi completed his schooling in Delhi. He later pursued formal training in acting at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, where he developed his skills in acting and theatre.

Career

Bedi began his acting career with the film Hamare Tumhare (1979). His performances in films such as Chashme Buddoor and Ek Duuje Ke Liye brought him recognition. He gained widespread popularity on Indian television through sitcoms like Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, Shrimaan Shrimati, and Yes Boss.

He has also appeared in long-running television series including Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain! and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. In recent years, he portrayed the character of Jameel Jamali in the spy thriller films Dhurandhar (2025) and Dhurandhar: The Revenge (2026), for which his performance was well received by audiences.
