Jamie Overton
Jamie Overton is an English cricketer. He performs as a right-arm fast bowler while also demonstrating skills as a right-handed batsman. Overton made his international debut in June 2022. His twin brother Craig Overton works as a professional cricketer.[1][2][3]
Early Life
Jamie Overton was born on 10 April 1994 in England. He demonstrated strong cricketing interest from an early age which he developed while playing with his twin brother Craig. The two players competed against each other in their matches which helped them develop their game skills and competitive abilities.
Career
Jamie Overton plays fast-bowling all-rounder because he combines quick bowling with an intense approach to his game. He started his professional career with Somerset County Cricket Club in 2012 and quickly earned recognition for his ability to bowl at high speeds.
Overton became well-known after he delivered outstanding results during domestic cricket matches and The Hundred tournament, which displayed his complete set of cricket skills. Overton signed a three-year contract with Surrey in August 2020 after he rejected a contract extension from Somerset. His debut first-class century occurred when he played in the Bob Willis Trophy during the same year. The Hundred announced in April 2022 that Manchester Originals had signed him for their roster. He helped Surrey win their County Championship title in 2022 by playing an important role.
Overton achieved an exceptional performance during The Hundred 2023 season which resulted in him winning the Player of the Tournament award through his complete playing ability. He later extended his contract with Surrey in August 2023. He joined the Adelaide Strikers for the 2023–24 Big Bash League in franchise cricket and retained his platinum player status for 2024.[4] [5]
The Chennai Super Kings signed Overton to a contract in November 2024 for the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League.
International Career
Overton joined England's training squad for 2020 after the COVID-19 pandemic created extended training periods.
He achieved recognition in May 2022 as one of the quickest bowlers who competes in English domestic cricket because he consistently delivered deliveries that reached 90 miles per hour.
He made his Test debut on 23 June 2022 against New Zealand national cricket team. His debut match established a significant milestone for his international career because it demonstrated his speed and complete athletic capabilities.
