Markande made his first-class cricket debut during the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy and established himself as Punjab's top wicket-taker by achieving 29 dismissals across six matches.

He represented India B and India C in the Deodhar Trophy and the International Cricket Council (ICC) named him as one of eight players to watch in the IPL during March 2019.
