Etymology

The Etymology of the word Haryana is derived from the Sanskrit words "Hari," which is a name for Lord Vishnu, and "Ayana," which means home. Therefore, Haryana means the abode of God. The word Haryana is also derived from the word "Hariyali," which means greenery.
