Gujarat Titans is a professional Twenty20 cricket franchise based in Ahmedabad, competing in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Established in 2021, the franchise quickly became one of the most successful new teams in IPL history.

The team plays its home matches at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium. The franchise is owned by Torrent Group (majority stake) and CVC Capital Partners. As of recent seasons, the team is captained by Shubman Gill and coached by Ashish Nehra.

History & Formation

In 2021, the IPL expanded from eight to ten teams. The Ahmedabad franchise was acquired by CVC Capital Partners for ₹5,625 crore.

Ahead of the 2022 season, star all-rounder Hardik Pandya was appointed captain. The team was officially named “Gujarat Titans” in February 2022.

GT made an immediate impact by winning the IPL 2022 Final in their debut season under Pandya’s leadership. They continued their strong performance by reaching the IPL 2023 Final, finishing as runners-up.

In February 2025, Torrent Group acquired a 67% stake in the franchise, while CVC Capital Partners retained 33%.

Home Ground

The Narendra Modi Stadium serves as the home ground of Gujarat Titans. Located in Ahmedabad, it is the largest cricket stadium in the world, with an impressive seating capacity of around 132,000 spectators. The stadium is renowned for hosting major international matches, high-profile IPL games, playoffs, and other significant cricketing events, making it one of the most iconic venues in global cricket.

Team Overview

The team’s identity is built around its striking color combination of navy blue, gold, and white, each carrying symbolic meaning. Navy blue represents confidence, authority, and resilience, highlighting the team’s strong and composed approach on the field. Gold signifies success, excellence, and championship ambition, reflecting the franchise’s goal of achieving greatness. White adds a sense of balance, integrity, and professionalism to the overall identity.

The logo features a bold triangular, pyramid-like design that conveys multiple layers of meaning. The triangular shape symbolizes stability and a solid foundation, while also representing upward movement, growth, and the pursuit of higher achievements. Its sharp edges and structured form reflect power, focus, and determination. Overall, the emblem captures the essence of the team’s mindset—strong, ambitious, and dominant—while reinforcing a modern and fearless brand image.
